Amazon Founder and Former CEO Jeff Bezos Sells $2 Billion Worth of Amazon Shares

Jeff Bezos, the founder and former CEO of Amazon.com (AMZN), has recently sold approximately $2 billion worth of shares in his company. This marks the third time this month that Bezos has made such a sale, bringing his total sales to over $6 billion.

According to a statement filed with federal regulators, Bezos sold around 12 million Amazon shares at an average price of $169.50 per share. Between Friday and Monday, he sold another 12 million shares, amounting to $2 billion, and had previously sold the same number of shares the week before.

Last week, Amazon announced that Bezos would be selling up to 50 million shares of the company, valued at approximately $8.4 billion. By relocating from Seattle to Miami, Bezos is expected to save around $600 million due to Florida’s tax advantages.

These sales mark the first time Bezos has sold Amazon stock since May 2021 when he stepped down as Amazon CEO. In addition to his business decisions, Bezos has also made philanthropic commitments towards addressing climate change and promoting human unity. In 2022, he revealed his intention to donate a significant portion of his $124 billion fortune to these initiatives.

Currently ranked as the world’s third-wealthiest person by Forbes, Bezos has a net worth of $191.4 billion. Following these recent sales, his Amazon holdings have decreased from 976.25 million shares to 952.26 million shares.
