Amazon May Lower Threshold for Free Grocery Delivery for Prime Members

According to a leaked memo reported by Business Insider, Amazon is considering lowering the threshold for free grocery delivery for Prime members. Currently, Prime members must spend $150 to receive their Amazon groceries delivered at no charge, but this could soon change to $100. The change is expected to be implemented as soon as Thursday.

In addition to this potential change, Business Insider also reports that Amazon is exploring the idea of a standalone grocery subscription service for Prime members. These moves are part of Amazon’s strategy to increase its share of the grocery market.

Earlier this month, Amazon Fresh started offering delivery for non-Prime members in select metro areas. The company is also revamping its existing stores to enhance the shopping experience. Two newly redesigned Amazon Fresh stores in the Chicagoland area feature a new layout with new brands, a focus on prepared meals, and the option of using Dash Carts – smart shopping carts that provide real-time deals and allow direct checkout.

Furthermore, Amazon plans to combine its ecommerce supermarket brands, including Amazon Fresh, Whole Foods, and Amazon.com, into a single online cart. These initiatives demonstrate Amazon’s commitment to expanding its presence in the grocery industry.
