Amazon CEO Andy Jassy has issued a warning to employees who refuse to comply with the company’s return-to-office mandate. In a recording of a company meeting obtained by Insider, Jassy stated that “it’s probably not going to work out for you” if employees do not adhere to the policy. Starting in May, Amazon implemented a requirement for corporate employees to be present in the office three days a week, which has caused discontent among some staff members. Jassy expressed frustration during the meeting, emphasizing that non-compliant employees could face termination, as reported by the online news site.
Last month, Bloomberg reported that certain corporate employees would need to relocate in order to comply with the three-day mandate. The morale at Amazon has suffered following the company’s layoff of approximately 27,000 employees. In May, a group of personnel from the Seattle headquarters staged a walkout in protest of the return-to-office policy.
Amazon spokesperson Brad Glasser confirmed Jassy’s comments in an email to Insider. However, the company has chosen not to provide immediate additional comments on the matter.
