In a surprising turn of events, Prime Video has decided to cancel the second and final season of “A League of Their Own,” according to TVLine. The streaming platform also reversed its renewal for the second season of the sci-fi drama “The Peripheral,” starring Chloë Grace Moretz. Both cancellations are reportedly due to production delays caused by the ongoing WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes.

Back in April, “A League of Their Own” was formally renewed for a final season, following its successful debut season. The second season was planned as a four-episode limited series, cutting the number of episodes in half compared to the first season. Co-creators Will Graham and Abbi Jacobson expressed their gratitude for being able to continue telling the story of these characters and this world.

The series is a reinterpretation of the beloved 1992 film and follows the women who formed their own professional baseball league during World War II. It explores not only the challenges faced by women in the era but also sheds light on the struggles of gay female baseball players. The show features a talented cast including Abbi Jacobson, D’Arcy Carden, and Chanté Adams.

In the Season 1 finale, the Rockford Peaches lost to the South Bend Blue Sox in the championship game, with Jo De Luca hitting the winning home run. Carson and Greta also went their separate ways after the baseball season ended, but a cliffhanger twist revealed Carson giving Greta a passionate goodbye kiss, witnessed by Carson’s husband Charlie.
