An Amazon delivery driver in California found a creative way to beat the heat during a scorching hot day. A video shared on Viralhog shows the driver taking a refreshing dip in a customer’s pool after making a delivery. The driver, fully clothed in a black Amazon vest and shorts, can be seen plunging headfirst into the pool, cap and shoes included. According to Viralhog, the customer had left a note in the delivery instructions inviting the driver to take a swim if they wanted to. After his swim, the driver casually walked back to his vehicle.
The incident took place in Gardena, California, where temperatures soared to highs of 70 to 74 degrees Fahrenheit in June, according to Weather Spark. The escalating heat has been taking a toll on businesses in California, Arizona, and Texas. Meanwhile, Death Valley, California, known as the hottest place on earth, experienced temperatures as high as 130 degrees Fahrenheit. Despite the extreme heat, tourists continued to flock to the site. Unfortunately, one man lost his life after collapsing at the end of a hike in Death Valley.
This heatwave is not limited to the US alone. Record-breaking temperatures have been observed globally, with July 3 marking the hottest day in recorded history. Climate scientists have been warning about the increasing frequency and persistence of heatwaves due to the climate crisis.
Extreme heat poses significant challenges for our bodies, which struggle to regulate temperature beyond 104 degrees Fahrenheit, as highlighted by a recent study from the University of Roehampton.
